FRIDAYS OF LENT

On Fridays of Lent (March 11, 18, 25, April 1, 8, 15), 5:30 pm. and Good Friday Afternoon, April 22, 2:15 p.m., the traditional STATIONS OF THE CROSS will be done with Organ Meditations. Included in the organ meditations are works from the movie "The Passions of the Christ" by John Debney and works by J. S. Bach, Cesar Franck, and others. Presiders for the service will vary from week to week. The organist will be Tim Claubaugh. This service is open to all; you need not be Catholic to attend this very moving hour long service.

AN EVENING OF MOZART AT ST. MARY'S

Saturday, March 12 at 7:30 will be "An Evening of Mozart" featuring Mozart's "Requiem" and "Concertante in E-Flat for Violin and Viola." Performers will be the Terra Choral Society and Chamber Arts Orchestra with special guests Joan Eckermann, Soprano; Emily Rogers, Mezzo Soprano; C. Andrew Blosser, Tenor; and Calvin Griffin, Bass. Soloists for the Concertante will be Virgil Lupu, Violin and Miahi Berindean, Viola, all under the direction of Michael Shirtz.

Cost for admission is $10 ($8 for students and seniors). Tickets can be purchased at the door.

ORGAN AND BRASS CONCERT RECAP

St. Mary's Church held an organ and brass concert on Sunday, March 6 at 7:30. The concert featured Tim Claubaugh, Organist and the Tera Brass Choir. Approximatley 125 people attended the concert.

Since hymns are such a big part of church organists, Claubaugh chose to play pieces based on hymns for his part of the program. Included was the piece "Prelude, Trio, and Finale on 'Holy God, We Praise Thy Name'" by area composer and organist Henry Kihlken. Kihlken is the Organist at St. John's Lutheran Church in Port Clinton and has many choral and organ works published.

The Terra Arts Chorale joined the forces of the organ and brass in a performance of Gabriel Faure's "Pavane" conducted by their director, Michael Shirtz.

ORGAN AND BRASS CONCERT

On Sunday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m., Terra presents its annual “Organ and Brass Concert.” Celebrating the powerful repertoire composed for brass and organ, the Terra Brass Choir meets once again with organist Tim Claubaugh in a performance of both classical and contemporary music. The Terra Arts Chorale will also be performing in this concert. The concert will be presented at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sandusky. Admission is free and open to the public.
